Oct 01,  · referencing New Jazz Conceptions, LP, Album, Mono, RE, OJC, RLP I'm no jazz critic, but I do dig me some Bill Evans and enjoying collecting his catalog. This one is tight per usual but dare I say "rocking"/5().

Bill Evans "New Jazz Conceptions" is a very strong debut Album. It is one of the most energetic Bill Evans records that I've heard, which may have been a result of his youth, especially if you compare it to "Everybody Loves Bill Evans" which is also a fabulous record but a bit more typical of the introspective Bill Evans style we all know and love/5(27).

Although a critical success that gained positive reviews in Down Beat and Metronome magazines, New Jazz Conceptions was initially a financial failure, selling only copies the first year. [2] Writing for Allmusic, music critic Scott Yanow said about the album: "Bill Evans' debut as a leader found the year-old pianist already sounding.
