The Mountain was met with critical acclaim.. Conor Fynes from Prog Sphere called it "quite possibly the greatest statement in progressive metal yet released in ", and noted that "the influence of bands like Dream Theater and King Crimson are undoubtedly evident, but Haken have finally claimed ownership of a sound unto their own. Apr 21,  · referencing The Mountain, 2xLP, Album, San + CD, Album + Ltd, IOMLP , Excellent album but the metallic sand pressing was disappointing. The copy I owned had loud surface noise where the metallic sand effect was on the lps/5().

The Cockroach King sits on his throne With the midas touch and a heart of stone An empire built on guile and greed A bleeding ground for those who heed The grand illusion's faded The hunter snares it's prey I fear and loathe the cockroach The mirage melts away [Chorus] The Cockroach King sits on his throne With the midas touch and a heart of stone.

Since releasing ‘Vector’ in October , Haken have completed headline tours the world over, played sold-out shows across Europe and North America as support for Devin Townsend and picked up a Prog award for their efforts too! All the while, they have been quietly, secretly working on the follow-up album.
